ButcherBox Review: Is It The Best Monthly
Meat Delivery Subscription Box?
If you have started eating high-quality humanely raised beef, chicken or pork or have been for a while, then you probably have heard of ButcherBox. When I first started buying meat online, I started buying traditional, grain-fed beef. Beef is beef is beef, right?? BIG MISTAKE!
The quality of meat you buy has a significant impact on your health, taste, and wallet.
In my review, I provide you with my experience with their products and if it is a company you should consider buying your meats from as well.

What Is The Quality Of ButcherBox Meats?
I’m impressed by the quality of beef, chicken, and pork that ButcherBox currently offers its members. They set a goal to deliver humanely raised, high-quality meats to your door, and I believe they have accomplished this goal by how they source their meats. According to their website, ButcherBox sources their antibiotic and hormone-free beef from a group of family farms and cooperatives from the United States and Australia.
100% Grass-Fed And Grass-Finished Beef
Where is Butcher Box beef from? According to their website, they guarantee that their beef comes from the United States and Australia and is from cattle that are 100% grass-fed, grass-finished. Meaning that throughout the cattle’s life, they are free to roam on grassy pastures. Once weaned from their mother’s milk after the first 6 to 9 months of their life, the cattle’s diet consists of natural grass. The cows are allowed to graze all year round because of the climate. They are never fed grain nor kept in feedlots.
Organic Free-Range Chicken
ButcherBox’s organic free-range chickens are antibiotic and hormone-free and are allowed to roam naturally in open fields to allow for natural movement and behavior. The chickens have an all-vegetarian diet with NO animal byproducts. Their chickens are USDA Certified Organic, and they eat Non-GMO Project verified feed.
Heritage Breed Pork
The heritage-breed pork that ButcherBox offers, Duroc, Berkshire, and Chester White, derives from pigs known in the industry for their natural genetics. According to BB’s website, the pork’s beautiful marbling and the flavor develop during its slow maturation process. The pigs have an all-vegetarian diet that consists of corn and soy, and they are free of antibiotics and hormones. They are Certified Humane and or American Humane Certified. ButcherBox’s pigs are not certified non-GMO, nor are they certified organic.
Is ButcherBox Worth The Cost?
Is a Butcher Box membership worth it? I believe being a member is definitely worth the subscription price. Based on the convenience, quality of meat and taste alone; for me, it’s a no brainer.
Yes, I know Butcher Box is not cheap, but I also believe that you get what you pay for.
Recently I’ve been “trying” (notice the quotation marks) to eat healthier, and I’ve come to realize that a healthy lifestyle is not cheap. But I also know that a healthy lifestyle is A LOT less expensive than having medical bills.
Your nutrition is important. I’m a believer of the saying, ‘you are what you eat.’ Knowing that I’m eating high-quality, humanely raised meats has made a difference for my new lifestyle.
My ButcherBox Experience
I signed up as a member of ButcherBox on August 19, 2019.
The buying experience is very simple and streamlined. Their website is very easy to navigate. It took me a a little less than 5 minutes to sign up.
One thing that really impressed me is how they communicate with you through the entire buying process. After I placed my order, I received a welcome email from ButcherBox with details of my order.
I captured my buying experience below in a short 5 minute video.
Check it out below…
My ButcherBox Shipment
My box shipped on August 21st. It took them up to a day and half to process my order. I can’t make any guarantees as to if this is always the case but for me, that was pretty fast.
Let’s face it, my box was shipped in August… Not a holiday month. Please. Be. Aware… If you place your order during Christmas or some other popular holiday, don’t expect it to be processed or shipped so fast. It also depends on your location.
Once again, ButcherBox communicated through email that my box shipped.
My ButcherBox Delivery & Unboxing
My first ButcherBox arrived August 22nd. Once again I received an email from them alerting me to the fact that my box was delivered.
I ordered the Classic chicken and beef box. As a new member, I received a package of bacon and a package scallops (ButcherBox promos change all the time).
The contents inside were shipped in a box with dry ice and was equipped with insulation on the sides and top of the contents. The meat contents were frozen solid.

The promotions that ButcherBox offers is my favorite benefit of signing up as a new member.
ButcherBox offers different types of promotions from time to time. One of the more popular promotions they run is the ‘For Life’ deal. This promo remains valid for the life of your subscription; as long you keep your membership active. Two examples of the ‘For Life’ deals are Bacon for Life and Wings for Life.
Quality Of Meats
I don’t eat pork but as for the chicken and beef; I can genuinely say it’s very high-quality meat. I believe that how they source their meats plays a significant role in quality.
I place my order one time, and my box is shipped directly to my house and arrives on my doorstep frozen on dry ice. I avoid going to the stores which, for me, is my favorite part.
